Dr. Dana Weintraub
Dr. Dana Weintraub is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, Staff Pediatrician at Ravenswood Family Health Center in East Palo Alto and Lecturer at Stanford Law School. Dr. Weintraub received an A.B. in History from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and her M.D. from University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. She completed her internship, residency and chief residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital & Research Center at Oakland and a post-doctoral fellowship in General Pediatrics at Stanford University.
Dr. Weintraub is Project Director of SPORT, a community-based evaluation of after school team sports as a weight control intervention for overweight children. Dr. Weintraub has extensive experience both playing and coaching soccer and developing after school programs. Throughout her four years playing Varsity Soccer for Dartmouth College, including two-time All-Ivy League Team honors, Dr. Weintraub coached local youths in league play and summer camps. After college, Dr. Weintraub spent six months in a primary school in South Africa where she created and delivered a curriculum for the co-ed physical education and after school sports programs, including three soccer teams, one of which was for school-age girls whom had not previously played soccer. Subsequently, Dr. Weintraub coached soccer at the YMCA in Cambridge, MA and coached the Junior Varsity Soccer Team at Dartmouth College. During medical school and residency, Dr. Weintraub developed after school tutoring and photography programs for homeless youths and children with chronic illnesses. She currently coaches youth soccer and basketball for her 5-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter’s teams.
Dr. Weintraub is co-founder and Medical Director of the Peninsula Family Advocacy Program, a medical-legal partnership between Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Ravenswood Family Health Center , and San Mateo Medical Center and clinics. Dr. Weintraub is an Assistant Medical Director for the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership.
Dr. Weintraub also serves on the boards of Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula and John W. Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities.
