Margarita, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, first came to the United States at the age of ten when her father was appointed to a diplomatic position in this country. At the age of 18, she returned to her native country, married and had two children. She worked at the International American School for eight years, first as a receptionist then as an administrative assistant.
Both of Margarita’s grown children were very active in sports, specifically basketball for her daughter and soccer for her son. As with many families, sports played a very important role in their lives. Although she cannot say that she has vast experience playing soccer, Margarita hopes to learn and become more involved in the game in the future.
Since returning to the United States at the age of 24, Margarita has lived in several areas of the country, including Illinois, California and, most recently, a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC. Before joining the U.S. Soccer Foundation staff in June 2004, she worked as an office assistant with the Fairfax County (Virginia) Public School System.
