Abandoned Mine Lands Reclamation Trust Fund (AML)

What Are Abandoned Mine Lands?

The AML program was developed to reclaim land and water resources adversely affected by past coal mining.

Similar to the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency, this partnership with the Office of Surface Mining (OSM) is expected to yield multiple soccer fields nationwide. The AML seeks to identify abandoned mining sites that, once restored, have the potential to become soccer fields.
