Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment
What Are Brownfields?
 |
| Brownfields are property, the reuse of which may be complicated by the presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. |
Brownfields are contaminated industrial sites that await clean-up and reuse. Although Brownfields are recognized by the government as being environmental hazards, their renovation is not viewed with the same urgency as, for instance, the Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund Program. To that end, the Foundation supports legislation that will foster relationships between private industry and local municipalities with the ultimate goal of transforming these unused plots of land into soccer fields.
