Mission Statement

The U.S. Soccer Foundation has one simple mission statement that guides our wide range of initiatives:

"To enhance, assist and grow the sport of soccer in the United States."

Guiding Principles

The Foundation’s Board of Directors has adopted the following guiding principles:

• Be a responsible steward of the Foundation’s resources;
• Provide resources for the sport in support of the United States Soccer Federation's Vision and Mission;
• Be an advocate for the sport and promote cooperation with and support from national and local governments; and
• Develop non-investment revenue from public and private sources to support the mission and criteria of the Foundation.

Criteria for Foundation Support

The Foundation will emphasize programs or projects that have a significant impact on furthering the Foundation's mission.

In addition, priority will be given to projects or programs where:

• The Foundation’s commitment of resources has a significant impact on the project or program;
• The project or program affords the Foundation the opportunity to develop alliances or partnerships;
• The impact of the project or program and the Foundation’s involvement in it are measurable; and
• The Foundation supports, but does not operate the project or program.

Fiscal Year 2008—Foundation's Focus

For FY 2008, the following focus will guide the Foundation’s funding decisions:

Support for programs or projects that develop players, coaches and referees and programs, including field enhancements with special emphasis on the economically disadvantaged in urban areas
