The Urban Soccer Symposium, presented by Soccer Shots, hosts urban soccer programmers and speakers from across the nation who are dedicated to improving the field of sports-based youth development. The Symposium features four days of interactive workshops  focused on sharing best practices and maximizing organizations' impact in the community. In addition to the workshops, the Symposium features Capitol Hill Day, in which attendees go on Capitol Hill to meet with government officials to discuss how soccer is positively impacting children in their communities.

Special Topics Diploma on Urban Soccer Coaching

The NSCAA and the U.S. Soccer Symposium have teamed up to offer coaches a Special Topics Diploma on Urban Soccer Coaching during the 2014 Urban Soccer Symposium. The course will provide candidates with the tools to coach in an urban environment and will address topics including:

  • Coaching in small spaces
  • Best practices in youth sport psychology
  • Creating a positive team culture
A full agenda is available to review, as well. The course will take place on May 2 - 3 at the Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel. The registration fee is $35. Please note, the cost of this course is not included in the registration fee for the Urban Soccer Symposium.

Traveling to the Urban Soccer Symposium


We highly recommend flying into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) (5 miles away). Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) (25 miles away) and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) (36 miles away) are additional options.

The Renaissance Washington, DC Dupont Circle Hotel is directly accessible from the Washington Metropolitan Area Rail System (www.wmata.com) using the Foggy Bottom metro stop (3 blocks north of the hotel).

Overnight parking is available at the Colonial Parking garage at 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue NW (approx. .5 miles away) for $17 a day, The Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel only provides valet parking for overnight guests (in and out privileges) at $35 plus tax or $20 plus tax for daily parking, and the Ritz-Carlton Washington, DC (1150 22nd Street, N.W., 1 block away) offers overnight parking at $35 per night.
