FieldTurf

An Idea that Changed the Entire Industry

The FieldTurf concept is simple—. The best surface for athletic contests is natural grass. Therefore, synthetic turf should be like grass, not carpeting. FieldTurf's inventors—former athletes and coaches—wanted to develop a synthetic system that offered the beneficial biomechanical properties of natural grass, combined with the best attributes of a durable synthetic system. Such a turf must withstand all weather conditions, be low maintenance and sustain unlimited playing time.

The idea was simple. Looks Like Grass… Feels Like Grass…Plays Like Grass. But the technology to make it happen was not simple at all. After several years of hard work and numerous tests, FieldTurf was born.

The FieldTurf Way

Only FieldTurf's selected components, patented formulation and construction and installation methods allow for emulation of the best natural grass fields. Cutting corners and reducing the price of components at the expense of performance are not part of the FieldTurf philosophy.

Every FieldTurf customer, whether a Premiere League Club or high school facility, receives the identical FieldTurf system, service and warranty.

Testing

In recent UEFA testing, visiting team players were asked to rate 5 different artificial grass fields, comparing these to their natural grass surfaces at their home field. A score of 5 or more indicated that the surface was better than their own field. In every test, players of all ages and all positions preferred FieldTurf - better than their natural grass at home. And only FieldTurf scored this well regardless which shoe was used. Playeres used moulded cleats, screw-in cleats and uncleated trainers. FieldTurf ranked 1st every time!

FIFA Recommendation

FieldTurf was the very first artificial surface to attain FIFA Recommended status due to its superior grass-like performance, which soccer players prefer. FieldTurf was the 1st artificial pitch to host a UEFA Cup Qualifiying Round (Torpedo, Moscow); and the 1st to host a FIFA Soccer Tournament (Jeux de la Francophnie). FieldTurf has passed the international governing body's most stringent testing and has more FIFA Recommended pitches than anyone else. FieldTurf is also UEFA Certified.

In June 2001, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) gave its official recommendation to the artificial grass FieldTurf installation at Boston University's Nickerson Field for international competition and domestic league play. It was the first certification of an artificial surface in the world, allowing Nickerson Field to be used for all preliminary competition matches for the FIFA World Cup, Olympic Soccer Tournaments and professional league play.

FieldTurf Tarkett currently boasts more FIFA Recommended pitches worldwide than any other synthetic turf manufacturer on the planet. To view a listing of FIFA Recommended  FieldTurf fields, please click here (http://www.fieldturf.com/installations/fifaRecommended.cfm).

Outperforming the Competition

The quality and performance of FieldTurf’s patented system is unmatched in the industry and has resulted in over 1,900 installations in over 40 countries. Unlike many competing systems and flat-tape fibers on the market, FieldTurf’s revolutionary monofilament turf system is the industry’s largest technological advancement in years. Coupled with FieldTurf’s proven infill mix and backing stability, the unique “tri-lobal” shape of the FieldTurf monofilament fiber provides a built in memory. Even when bent or compressed, the fiber will return to its upright position.

"That's the beauty behind FieldTurf. From an engineering standpoint, FieldTurf is out of this world." - Paul Willis, Executive Director, Seacoast United Soccer Complex

"Since we purchased our first FieldTurf pitch in 2001, we have been extremely pleased with its performance and for us at the Youth Academy there was no other choice when the indoor hall was built. We continue to be thoroughly satisfied with FieldTurf." - John Beattie, Stadium Manager, Arsenal Football Club PLC

"Football players of every age - as well as the professionals of the premier league - were all very enthusiastic about the FieldTurf pitch. It offers excellent playing conditions and training - even in winter - and the risk of injuries is minimal. For this reason, we decided to get a new FieldTurf pitch in 2005." - Klaus Allofs, Manager, SV Werder Bremen, 1

In the US and around the world, top leagues and teams practice and play on FieldTurf, including FC Torpedo in the Russian Premier League at Luzhniki, BSA Olympic Stadium. The FieldTurf system at the Luzhniki BSA Olympic Stadium has obtained FIFA Recommended 2-Star status which is the highest level of approval that a synthetic turf system can receive from FIFA.
