David Sutphen is a Partner at Brunswick Group LLC, a leading strategic communications consultancy. He has been at the center of significant policy, public affairs and media issues for more than a decade. He advises companies on navigating their corporate and social responsibilities, and pairing those efforts with effective public policy.

Prior to Brunswick, David served as SVP of Government Relations at Viacom and SVP of Government & Industry Relations at Recording Industry Association of America. Before RIAA, he spent six years in politics, as General Counsel to Senator Kennedy & Chief of Staff to Congressman Harold Ford. David began his career in the communications practice group at Covington & Burling, and clerked on the Third Circuit. He is a graduate of Michigan Law School and Amherst College.
