Advocacy

The U.S. Soccer Foundation is located in Washington, D.C., and serves as the national Advocate for the entire soccer community.

The U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Advocacy efforts focus on using sport as a vehicle to promote youth development and positive social change. This includes combating childhood obesity, preventing youth delinquency, and the critical issue of providing youth with safe and accessible places to play, especially those in underserved communities.

Currently, the Foundation's main areas of interest are:

  • Fit for LIFE Act (H.R. 6258)
The U.S. Soccer Foundation is a partner in the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” childhood obesity prevention campaign and supports legislative initiatives such as the recently introduced, “Fit for LIFE (Local Investments in the Future of Every Child)” Act.

  • Advocacy Day
An integral part of the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s role as the national advocate for the game of soccer is assisting grassroots and urban soccer programs from across the U.S. to develop relationships with their elected leaders and key decision-makers in Washington, DC. Each year, we host the “Urban Soccer Advocacy Day” to promote the tremendous work being done by local soccer programmers and provide them with increased visibility among key decision-makers in our Nation’s Capital.
