What is the application process and timeline?

The Annual Grants cycle will open Fall 2012. Applications will only be available online and must be submitted via the U.S. Soccer Foundation's website. The application will not be available to view until the Annual Grants cycle is open.

What are the funding levels for each category of grant?

  • All Program Grants: up to $50,000
  • Field Enhancement Grants: up to 65,000
  • Synthetic Field Building Grants: up to $200,000
  • Planning Grants: up to $8,000

The guidelines state that the highest priority will be given to projects in economically disadvantaged populations. Will any grants be awarded to communities outside of this specific focus?

Yes. Anyone can apply for and receive a grant, even if you are not in an urban underserved area. Our focus, however, is on under-resourced areas, so priority will be given to groups who operate in locations with these characteristics.

Can your organization apply for more than one type of grant?

Yes, but you need to submit a separate application for each grant you are applying for.

Are matching funds required?

Matching funds are not required, but it is very rare that we fund 100% of your program, so we want to see that you have additional funding soruces. We will look much more favorably on organizations that show they have additional funders. The last thing we want, is to give a grant to a program and then not see it come to fruition because there is a lack of funding.
